Woman accused of stabbing man while on a Toronto street

A man was hospitalized on Thursday after a woman allegedly stabbed him on Queen Street East in downtown Toronto, police said. The incident took place on the same block where Canadian politician Christine Elliott held a press conference earlier in the day, to protest the arrest of an ally to former Ontario premier, Patrick Brown. Brown, who resigned from his position after multiple allegations of sexual misconduct, faces charges of sexual assault and assault in relation to two women who accused him of sexual misconduct.

The woman allegedly stabbed the man during an altercation, Toronto Police say, before being arrested by police. The man, who police have not identified, was rushed to the hospital in serious condition. He is expected to survive.

The Toronto Star reports that a police spokesman spoke to reporters Thursday morning. “We are assessing this as a justifiable use of force as to what has occurred,” Det. Sgt. Gurdev Furlan said. Toronto police say that the woman arrested is cooperating with police, but did not elaborate further on her alleged role in the alleged attack.

Video of the alleged attack is below.

Wont be edutant of the inconsistencies of this video, but regardless here is the stabbing. There were witnesses. The doctor says the man was stabbed “unprovoked”. #CUPE16 #Discrimination pic.twitter.com/LFeGaGY5V9 — CUPE Toronto (@CUPEToronto) January 11, 2018
