Hi all. Just seen a pedestrian at 2100 34th St NW abruptly stop, pull back along one corner of the intersection, then pause and stand there briefly, before continuing directly into some construction scaffolding. Not sure what he saw there, or if he realized that there was no way to cross the street to make a U-turn, as vehicles were heading towards him. Just the general sense that something unusual and out of the ordinary had happened there and he was not sure why. Anyway, sure enough this morning I saw construction workers move the scaffolding onto one of the sidewalks for a lack of any other available street. They now are parked pretty close to the curb of the street, but with nothing blocking the view of motorists from moving through the area. It’s hard to tell exactly what is going on there because it’s somewhat incognito, but the primary focus appears to be blocking visibility for pedestrians trying to cross the street on the crosswalk, hence the cement and paint along the sidewalk. It may just be that the builders couldn’t find a similar piece of plywood that would fit next to the sidewalk. Or could it be something else?
