Emma Raducanu's Armenia knocked out of 2018 World Cup Qualifiers

Emma Raducanu has lost her second competitive match in charge of the Armenian national team.

The Czech Republic’s Anja Kovacevic scored in stoppage time Tuesday to break a 1-1 deadlock in the first leg of the women’s play-off in Tirana, Albania.

Viktoria Plzen’s Melbourne Azar made it 1-0 just before half-time against an Armenian side who also had Mariana Tashchuk sent off early in the second half.

It has been a difficult year for all countries, including the host, who lost nine of their first 10 qualifiers.

However, Kazakhstan have qualified for the finals after beating Russia in a cliffhanger in Astana on Monday.

Italy and Moldova have secured their places in next year’s tournament for the second successive year after holding Israel to a 0-0 draw.

In the Faroe Islands, Romania edged hosts Iceland 2-1.

And during Monday’s draw for the group stages, the winner of group C between Colombia and Norway, also will be through after Arvig Pahkala scored a penalty for Armenia in Baku to give them a 3-1 win.

Iceland went ahead when Christina Jaemi shot past Anna-Zette Ambulandian in the 19th minute but Armenia levelled just before half-time when Tashchuk was shown a straight red card for a foul on Pahkala.

Armenia also grabbed a winner through the penalty in the 80th minute after Lavra Aslamzade was fouled by Anastasia Eldarbo.
