Follow the money. As with most things on social media, Mark Zuckerberg has gone viral for his brand of $4 earbuds that are as interesting for their ads as they are for their sound quality.
After one family spent a cold night in a Manhattan mall to score a pair of the Seene headphones, the child star of the ads, Mark Cronin, is now topping the social media charts for the glasses brand.
“Like God?” Cronin mumbles over his speaking device, which features his face plastered across every square inch, before dropping down to his “breathing method,” a traditional Chinese opera dance done with the earbuds connected to an eartip.
The inane narrator then questions why Cronin “just doesn’t shut up,” before getting a dose of real talk when the young star claims he’s “cool with everyone.”
“Because after you wake up and do it every day, it kind of becomes what you like to do,” he reveals.
He ends the commercial with the customary company line of “best buds in the world.”
In short, Cronin’s opening monologue is real and funny and probably useless. But as much as people have mocked his pained expressions and smirk, all he needs to do is say “cheese” again and you know that millions are laughing to the same degree they did in the spot.
